Brick thrown through Leyland barber shop to steal charity box and tip jar

 

A man has been arrested after a barber shop was burgled and cash was stolen from a charity box and tip jar.

The break-in happened at around 11.15pm on Monday, August 24, when a brick was thrown through the window of Benjamin Jack’s barbers on Longmeaneygate in Leyland.

Lancashire Police say around £100 in cash was taken from the tip jar and charity box behind the counter. A £100 hairdryer was also stolen during the burglary.

Following enquiries, officers arrested a 36-year-old man from Leyland this morning on suspicion of burglary. He has also been arrested on suspicion of theft following a shoplifting incident at Aldi in Leyland on Friday, August 21.

Police say £56 worth of products were stolen during that incident.

The arrest forms part of Lancashire Constabulary's wider response to shoplifting under Operation Vulture.
